The People album on iPhone and Mac categorizes photos based on facial recognition. If you can't find a specific person in the People album, you can create a profile for them yourself. What's more, if you seem to have an excess of albums and want to get rid of some profiles, you can do this quickly too.

This is how you can add and remove people from the People album.

Add someone to the People Album on iPhone or iPad

IPhone automatically creates a new profile in the People Album for faces that appear in your gallery. However, sometimes this fails for several reasons. In this case, you can create a new profile for the person yourself. Follow these steps to create a new profile:

  1. Open minded photos and find and tap a photo of the person you want to add.

  2. Swipe up on the photo.

  3. You will see thumbnails of everyone in the photo. Tap the thumbnail of the person you want to add.

  4. Tap on Add name above and enter a name.

  5. Tap on Next and then select complete.

Another way to do this is in the People album itself. At the bottom of the People album are unnamed thumbnails of people. Here's how you can add names to them and create a new person profile:

  1. Tap on Albums at the lower edge photos and choose the persons Album.

  2. Scroll down and you will see thumbnails of people in your gallery with no names. Tap the face that you want to profile.

  3. Tap Add name above. Add the name, tap Next, and then hit complete.

If you don't see a thumbnail for the person after swiping up on their photo, then you can't manually create a person profile for them on your iPhone.

Add someone to the People album on Mac

You can also create a new profile in the People album on your Mac. Here are the steps to do this:

  1. Open that photos app and select the picture with the face of the person you want to profile.

  2. click on the The information Button in the upper right corner of the page.

  3. You will now see a drop down menu. Press the + Sign next to Add faces.

  4. Move the circle to the face you want to profile and press Click to name.

  5. Enter a name or select one from your contacts.

  6. Press Close break up.
