The way to Change Sounds on Home windows 11

In addition to a softer and more fluid design, Windows 11 has also synced its system sounds to match its visual appeal. The notifications on the new Windows now sound quieter.

But you may not like this quieter sound experience. Or do you want to customize Windows sounds to your liking. Well, it's very simple, so let's see how to change sounds in Windows 11.

How to change sounds on your Windows 11 PC

Windows 11 is the first version of Windows that has different sounds for light and dark mode. Although separate, the sounds are not entirely different for the two modes.

The light mode has lighter and louder tones than the dark mode, but Microsoft has made these two system sound profiles quieter and softer.

However, if you want to change these quieter sounds or add new ones, here's how:

  1. Press the seek Icon in the system tray and look for Sound settings.

  2. Click on Sound settings under Best hit or click Open minded in the right area under Sound settings. You can also reach the system sound settings page by pressing Right click on the sound System tray icon and selection Sound settings.

  3. Scroll down to the Progressive Section and click More sound settings.

  4. The Sounds window with various options opens. click on the Sounds Option at the top of the window and the list of program events opens below Program events. These are events like calendar reminder, low battery alarm, notification of new emails, and more.

  5. Now just select the program event whose sound you want to change. As you can see in the screenshot above, I've chosen Low battery alarm, and the standard sound provided for it is Windows background.

  6. Now click the menu arrow next to the default setting Windows background Sound name. It will open the list of sound options that you can set.

Sometimes the sounds Windows offers you are vaguely named, such as: B. "Alarm 01". If you want to see how they sound, select one and listen to it by clicking Check Button. If you don't like it, just choose another one. And if you like the sound, click Use to lock it up.

If you want to turn off the sound of a specific event, just scroll to the top of the Sound Options menu and select the (None) Opportunity. Then click Use and OK.

There are some events that don't have a default tone assigned, such as: B. Open menu popup or program. You can set new sounds for these program events at any time. For example, I hired Ring 07 than the tone for Open the programso that a sound is made every time a program is opened.

Here's how to set your preferred tone as the notification alarm

If you don't like the Windows sound options, you can change them to a sound of your choice. Before you begin, make sure that the sound you want to add is in WAV format as Windows will only accept these as system sounds.

To save a custom sound, click Search in the sound settings to open the file explorer. Then select the custom WAV sound effect that you want to use. Click on Open minded to open the sound settings and click on Use and OK to save the sound.

Yes, your new email notification tone can be an introductory section of one of your favorite songs – just make sure you convert it to WAV first.

How to turn off system sounds on Windows 11

If you want some peace and quiet, you can simply switch off the system sounds. Search for Sound settings > More sound settings > Sounds to go to the sound settings page.

Under Sound scheme: select the No noises Opportunity. Once you are done, you will no longer be bothered by system noise while you work.

Here's how to change your Windows 11 sound scheme to a custom one

Windows 11 comes with a standard sound scheme. However, as you have learned, you can change the system sounds to your liking.

So after you've changed the sounds of program events, it's best to save all of those changed sounds under your own sound scheme. Here's how:

Once all of the system sounds have been changed, click on that Save as next to the Sound Scheme drop-down menu. In the window that opens, give your personalized sound scheme a name, e.g. B. You can name it My new sounds. Then click on OK.

If you now navigate in the Sound Scheme drop-down menu, the name of your new sound scheme (which contains the group of all your selected sounds) will also appear next to the default settings. And you can activate it simply by selecting it from the menu.

This allows you to create different sound schemes and switch between them (and the standard Windows scheme) with just one click.
