A PC, whether laptop or desktop, offers a number of exciting advantages over tablets, smartphones and game consoles. But one of the best is the customization that comes with it. While you can choose the internal components, you also have a tremendous range of accessories and peripherals to choose from – from fantastic keyboards to headsets, cameras, microphones and speakers. These are the best pc accessories you can buy.
Do you need a PC before you can even think of accessories? Here are our lists of the best desktops and laptops.
Logitech G Pro mechanical keyboard
A good mechanical keyboard is a must if you are a PC gamer or a frequent typer. They speed up your reactions in the game a little, your typing a little more accurate, and the general experience of using your keyboard a lot more pleasant. There are a few different mechanical keyboards that we really like, but our favorite is the Logitech G Pro. It's a responsive, comfortable, and relatively quiet keyboard with a detachable USB cable and dedicated media keys.
No need to look for a mechanical circuit board with RGB lighting and other advanced features. If you opt for a simpler feature list, a good mechanical card with Cherry MX, Razer, orSwitches go a long way towards enhancing your PC experience.
Steelseries Arctis Pro headset
If you prefer to use headphones on your PC, a great headset is a better choice than high-end speakers. Of all the options available, we love the Steelseries Arctis Pro, both wired and wireless. They aren't cheap, but they offer fantastic sound quality with high definition audio support, a comfortable ski mask style headband, and even interchangeable earcup covers and headband for a style choice.
The wireless version uses a dual battery system so you are never without power. Thanks to the built-in Bluetooth connectivity, you can easily stay connected with the outside world while listening to your favorite music.

No PC user should go without a good USB stick. It's a quick and easy backup solution whether you're at home or on the go. The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe is one of our favorites because it is available in different capacities (32 GB to 1 TB) and has a robust standard. It has a solid protective cover and a key ring clip for easy operation.
However, it also has a USB-A and a USB-C port on the same device, making connectivity a breeze.

Steelseries Rival 710 gaming mouse
Bill Roberson / Digital Trends
Gaming mice may seem like an exaggeration when you're just working on your PC, but they offer the best ergonomics and functionality of any mouse. The Steelseries Rival 710 is our favorite gaming mouse. It has a high-end sensor, a comfortable case and excellent side handles for easy use during intensive gaming sessions. It's a fantastic right hand rodent no matter what you do with it.
Theis a great mouse overall, but if you prefer wireless or ergonomic mice we have solid recommendations for you too.
Aperion Allaire speakers
Bill Roberson / Digital Trends
A good set of speakers is a must to enjoy music, movies, and games on your PC. They add depth and presence to experiences that would otherwise feel thin and overwhelming with the speakers that come with pre-built PCs or, worse, monitor speakers. Our preferred PC speakers are the Aperion Allaire speakers, which offer great sound quality with rich bass and great mid-range details, while also having Bluetooth and optical connectivity.

Kootek Chill Mat 5
If you are a laptop user, you know that cooling the laptop itself, no matter how good, can get nasty. This can lead to increased fan noise and decreased performance, and even make it uncomfortable to touch. A decent cooling pad can go a long way in solving these problems, and our favorite is that, with its collection of five quiet fans, USB connectivity and attractive LED lights for those who want it.
Edimax EW-7833UAC wireless adapter
While most modern laptops come with Wi-Fi support out of the box, desktops don't always do so. Some high-end motherboards support this, but nowhere near all. With a good wireless adapter, you can get online if a wired connection isn't working. This is a great way to add faster WiFi support to older portable devices.
TheYou might not have a catchy name, but it's a fast Wi-Fi adapter that works well on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. It's relatively compact and affordable too, but not the best in the long run.
Samsung T5 external SSD
If you don't mind sacrificing a bit of portability, external hard drives and SSDs offer loads of capacity at a very affordable price. Our favorite is the Samsung T5 because it's still slim, looks good, performs even better, and is impressively affordable, even up to 2TB. It's much faster than your average external hard drive and even slightly shockproof with no moving parts.
Here are some of our other favorite external drives in addition to the– from those with a large capacity to robust protective covers.
Blue Yeti USB microphone
A good microphone can bring your video calls to new levels of intimacy and clarity, or enhance your home video recording for streaming, voice-over, or other audio projects. A very popular solution for semi-professional and amateur recording artists is the Blue Yeti. It's a powerful, capable microphone with great features for single and multi-person recordings. It has a solid base if you don't want to attach it to a cantilever arm.
Better yet, thatisn't too expensive as you can record yourself in high quality sound for not far north of $ 100.
CalDigit TS3 Plus Dock
A dock is a great addition to your PC desk, especially if you have a laptop to manage or a lot of data to be transferred frequently. Versatile enough for all kinds of purposes, this particular model has seven USB 3.1 ports, Thunderbolt 3 (post-charging), and some USB-C 2.0 ports. There are also connections for DisplayPort 1.2 and SD cards as well as LAN and an optical output, which makes it an all-rounder. The durable design also supports vertical or horizontal placement.
Joto cable guide sleeve
With this 4-pack of cable sleeves, cable management is taken to a new level. So you can simply tear bundles of cables in neoprene material to keep them gathered and secure. Each sleeve can hold multiple cables of different sizes, and you can cut them down to smaller sizes if you prefer.
