G-Sync from Nvidia is a technology that synchronizes the refresh rate of a display with the output of a GeForce graphics chip. It's very popular with PC gaming as it eliminates the screen cracks and stuttering associated with incorrect sync.
If your PC has GeForce graphics, or if you are planning to upgrade to a GeForce add-in GPU, investing in a good G-Sync monitor is a must for the ultimate in immersion.
Below is our list of the best G-Sync monitors you can buy right now. We have special favorites for 4K gaming, 1440p gaming, high refresh rates, budget conscious gamers, and more.
Not worried about G-Sync? We have a list of great gaming monitors instead!
The best G-Sync monitors at a glance:
The best 4K G-Sync monitor: Acer Predator XB3
Dan Baker / Digital Trends
Acer's Predator models are already great for gaming: adding G-Sync and HDR support to this 4K model only gets it better. This 27 inch monitor has an excellent quantum dot screen with good color accuracy and amazing levels of brightness thanks to the effective HDR.
The refresh rate starts at 120 Hz and overclocks to 144 Hz (DisplayPort only). The response time is a healthy 4 ms – more than fast enough for most players. You also get the many customization options for Predator for different game modes – action, sport, racing, etc – and the ability to customize colors and other settings to your liking.
We had a couple of issues with the design: the built-in controls for the monitor are at the back and are a little tricky to use, especially when you've positioned the screen the way you want it. The ports – including HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-A, and USB-B – are well hidden but also difficult to access. So setting up this monitor may take a little longer, but it's all worth it in the end.
The best 1440p G-Sync monitor: Asus ROG Swift PG349Q
Our current favorite for the 1440p crown is the Asus ROG Swift PG279Q. It offers a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 on a flat 27-inch IPS panel. It's not quite as attractive as Razer's unique Raptor 27 display that originally stood in this spot, but there are plenty of eye candy that add a bit of visual flair to your desktop.
This G-Sync display offers a maximum refresh rate of 165 Hz, a maximum brightness of 350 nits and a contrast ratio of 1,000: 1. HDR is not supported, but the IPS control panel ensures rich, deep colors and wide viewing angles.
Other notable features of this ROG Swift display include built-in two-watt speakers, a handful of ports, a built-in crosshair and FPS counter, and a response time of 4 milliseconds.
The most affordable G-Sync monitor: Dell Gaming Monitor 24 inch
Dell's 24-inch model is a reliable G-Sync monitor that sacrifices a bit of screen space for a low price. You can upgrade to the 27-inch model for around $ 100 more. At this point, however, we recommend using a Predator or ROG model instead.
The screen offers a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440, a refresh rate of 165 Hz and a response time of 1 ms – including flicker-free technology. We also enjoy the clean, functional design: it can save space when needed and expand or adjust as needed, including tilt, swivel, swivel and height options. This also makes it a great solution for connecting multiple monitors when you need additional screen real estate.
This monitor has several preset modes for specific game types (RPG, FPS, etc.) to make optimization a bit easier.
The best G-Sync high refresh rate monitor: Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor
Alienware's 25-inch Full HD monitor offers a native refresh rate of 240 Hz, a response time of 1 ms and a design that is much more customizable than it looks, always with the traditional tilt, pan, pan and height options are still firmly anchored. Connections include DisplayPort 1.2, audio output options, USB-A and HDMI.
There are also Alienware-specific features that may be of interest to you. AlienFX is included, along with some additional LEDs that you can program to your heart's content, and a dynamic on-screen display allows you to quickly switch between preset game modes or easily make settings / multi-monitor changes.
The best ultrawide G-Sync monitor: Acer Predator Z35P
If you are looking for an ultrawide model instead, we understand. Ultrawide monitors are great for immersion and are especially good for racing games and simulators. They're also great for shooters who support wider aspect ratios and other games where field of view is critical. This The 35-inch curved Predator monitor is a great example of an ultrawide that can really enhance your gaming experience. It gives you more immersion and maybe even saves a little desk space.
This monitor offers a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 and a refresh rate of 144 Hz via DisplayPort (60 Hz via HDMI). If you connect through DisplayPort, you can also overclock the refresh rate to 200 Hz. Other notable features include five USB-A ports and ambient lighting along the frame edges. Ambient lighting is great whether you want extra visibility or just look cool.
This model comes in a variety of sizes, but the 35-inch is the largest. It also offers the best bang for your buck when it comes to ultra-wide G-Sync options.
