The best way to Permit Pop-Ups on a Mac

Some popups can pose a potential threat to your PC while others are completely harmless and even useful. When you get notifications from your favorite website or want to access important web pages, pop-up blockers can be an inconvenience. But how do you enable pop-ups on websites you trust and disable them on other websites at the same time?

We are going to show you how to enable pop-ups on a Mac no matter what browser you are using.

Enable popups on Safari

The default browser on your Mac makes managing popups very easy. The following has to be done:

Step 1: With Safari activated, click Safari in the top left, followed by Preferences in the drop-down menu that appears.

step 2: In a pop-up window, click the Websites tab at the top, followed by the Pop-up window entry on the left.

step 3: To enable pop-ups on a specific website, click the drop-down menu next to the website name, then click Allow. If you want to allow pop-ups on all websites, select Allow from the drop-down menu next to When visiting other websites at the bottom.

When Safari is actively blocking a popup, a small notification will appear in the browser's address bar letting you know that it has done so. If you need this popup to activate a feature, it's a quick way to get it. Just click on the notification and Safari will give you the option to view the pop-up.

It's not a great way to manage pop-ups in general, but it's useful if you occasionally see a pop-up but don't want to permanently change any of your settings.

Enable popups in Firefox

Firefox is also a very common browser choice for Mac users, especially since its Quantum overhaul. If you're using Firefox, here's how to enable pop-ups in Mozilla's popular browser:

Step 1: In a Firefox window, select Firefox in the upper left, followed by Settings in the resulting drop-down menu.

step 2: On the new Settings tab, click Privacy & Security on the left and scroll down to the Permissions section.

Step 3: Uncheck the box next to Block pop-ups to enable pop-ups for all websites.

Step 4: If you don't want to enable all pop-ups, use the Exceptions button instead. This will open a new window where you can manually enter the website address – use the copy / paste method – and click the Allow Changes and Save buttons. You can add as many websites as you want to your exceptions and remove them as needed when you're done.

Enable pop-ups in Chrome

Chrome is a popular browser for Android and Mac owners. The steps outlined below first explain how Chrome manages popups and second, how to deal with it manually, not to mention it Here are some great blocking methods too::

Step 1: With the Chrome browser window open, click Chrome in the upper left corner, followed by Settings in the drop-down menu that appears.

Step 2: A new Settings tab will open. You should see a list of options on the right, including privacy and security. Click on it.

step 3: Scroll down and click Popups and Redirects. You will see a new page with the option to toggle between Blocked (Recommended) and Allowed. Switch to Allowed to enable all pop-ups.

Step 4: Under Allow you can manually add individual websites to the pop-up allow list. This works fine when you have another list of allowed websites to copy-paste and save in Chrome.

Step 5: You also have the option to automatically allow popups from every website you visit in Chrome. When a page is blocking pop-ups in Chrome, you'll see a small icon named "Pop-up Blocked" that looks like a window with an X in the address bar. You can click this icon to allow the pop-up or allow pop-ups from that particular site.

Note: You can also access the popup settings by typing chrome: // settings / content / popups in the address bar.

What about third party apps?

Third party ad blocker apps to like Adblock Plus Promote ads and popups. As you can see in the picture, external apps provide a visual indicator of the current number of ads blocked.

However, you may need to enable pop-ups on these apps as well, as they may misidentify and block innocent pop-ups. Whenever you visit a site that you need popups on, click the AdBlock icon and look for a way to whitelist the site, or Deactivate the block for that particular site. You should keep this in mind when using these third party apps as most of them have this feature.
