This is a significant advance over the previous generation of Microsoft Surface Pro.
The more leaks there are for the new Microsoft Surface Pro 8, the better our understanding of the hardware specifications to expect.
The latest version of Microsoft Surface Pro 8 states that the next generation will be equipped with at least 8 GB of RAM even for beginners.
At least 8 GB of RAM for Surface Pro 8
Microsoft Surface Pro users will be pleased to hear that even the cheapest option in the updated Surface Pro range is getting a significant memory boost.
Right now, the cheapest Surface Pro 7 configuration, which includes an Intel Core i3-1005G1 processor, is only available with 4GB of RAM.
While 4GB of RAM is fine, 8GB is fast becoming the de facto standard for laptops and desktops as programs and apps, and even the operating system itself, require more processing power. With 8GB of RAM, most users will never run into memory shortages.
The latest information on WinFuture shows that the cheapest Surface Pro 8 configuration comes with an 11th Gen Intel Core i3 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. As with the previous generation Surface Pro, the entry-level configuration is the only option that has an Intel Core i3 processor.
The Premium Surface Pro 8 configuration with an 11th generation Intel Core i7 processor has at least 16 GB of RAM and SSD storage options of 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB. There is also a 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD storage option.
The full list of currently known Surface Pro 8 configurations is as follows:
Intel Core i3, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD
Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD
Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD
Intel Core i5, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD
Intel Core i5, LTE, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD
Intel Core i5, LTE, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD
Intel Core i5, LTE, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD
Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD
Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD
Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD
Intel Core i7, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD
There could well be more Microsoft Surface Pro 8 configurations to join the current list.
Not the first Microsoft Surface Pro 8 leak
Although there is no current release date for Microsoft Surface Pro 8, the list of possible configurations for the new generation looks promising. It's not the first leak related to the new hardware either.
At the beginning of December 2020 we reported on a Geekbench 5 benchmark test leak in which an unspecified Microsoft device was equipped with an 11th generation Tiger Lake Intel Core i7-1185G7, a quad-core processor with a base frequency of 3.0 GHz and a maximum frequency that was displayed was 4.80 GHz.
The benchmark also showed that the device used 32GB of RAM, which is in line with the expected specs for the flagship Microsoft Surface Pro 8.
When will the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 hit the shelves? If Surface Pro has earlier launches, the smart money is October 2021.
Microsoft still wants you to upgrade to Windows 10
Even though the Windows 10 2016 upgrade scheme has expired, Microsoft is still giving older users a free pass.
