Methods to Play Roblox on a Chromebook

Brands design Chromebooks with a minimalist user interface and long battery life. You might be wondering if you can play Roblox on a Chromebook. Maybe this is at the behest of a younger family member, or maybe you want to pass the time with some play.

If so, here's how you can play Roblox on a Chromebook whether you have the Play Store or not.

What is Roblox?

When installing Roblox on a Chromebook for a younger family member, you might be wondering what Roblox is.

Put simply, Roblox is a platform that allows its users to create games that other users can then play. So, if you or someone you know wants to be part of a huge online community of like-minded developers and gamers, downloading Roblox to your Chromebook is a good idea.

How to play Roblox on a Chromebook

Some Chromebooks are not compatible with the Google Play Store. Over time, this becomes less and less common, but what if you're one of the unlucky ones stuck with no access to the Play Store?

You can still download Roblox with or without the Play Store by using either of these two methods.

Method 1: Download Roblox from the Google Play Store

Downloading Roblox from the Google Play Store is extremely easy. All you need to do is make sure your Chromebook is compatible with the Play Store app and powered on. To check this, go to Settings and then Apps via the left menu.

On the Apps Tab you should see the Google Play Store and whether it is enabled or not. Make sure you set it to turn on.

You are now ready to download Roblox to your Chromebook from the Play Store.

  1. Just go to the Play Store, it should have a shortcut at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Search for Roblox in the Play Store.

3. Click on To install in the upper right corner to download and install Roblox on your Chromebook.

Roblox is now working on your Chromebook.

Method 2: Install Roblox with ARC Welder

ARC Welder allows you to install Roblox on your Chromebook, and it's not too difficult! You will need some knowledge of how to download APKs, which are pretty straightforward in general.

Some APKs don't work with certain Chromebooks. So keep in mind that your situation may be different with these steps. If a particular APK isn't working for you, there are plenty of APKs to download.

  1. Download the Roblox APK. You can download the APK from a website like APKpure.

  2. Search for ARC Welder by arc_eng in the Play Store and download it.

  3. Open ARC Welder and choose Select.

  4. Now select the directory you downloaded Roblox to and click on to open Button. You should make sure you've added the Roblox APK to a folder as ARC Welder needs to be opened from a folder rather than opening a single file.

  5. Choose Add an APK file on ARC Welder and find the Roblox APK which is in the folder you created for it.

  6. Adjust the settings in Test your app Dialogue on ARC Welder according to your requirements.

  7. Roblox should start automatically and now work on your Chromebook.

Improve Roblox's performance on Chromebook

Since brands don't develop Chromebooks with gaming in mind, you may have performance issues. There are a few things you can do to make sure Roblox is running as smoothly as possible.

  1. Close all other powerful apps like the Chrome browser or other apps.

  2. In Roblox, press the Esc Key then go to Settings> Graphics and deactivate automobile, then select the lowest graphic possible.

  3. Enable Hyper-Threading to improve game performance. To do this, enter chrome: // flags # scheduler-configuration then select in the address bar of your browser Activates Hyper-Threading on relevant CPUs, Then choose Start anew.

If the above workarounds don't improve Roblox's performance on your Chromebook, then unfortunately you'll need to update the device you're using to play it. A gaming PC is a solid choice, but take some advice before you buy your first gaming PC.

Play Roblox on your Chromebook

Contrary to popular belief, you can play on a Chromebook, and Roblox is one of those games. If you're using a newer model of Chromebook, you can likely follow Method 1.

If you're using an older Chromebook, there are a few extra steps to take, but it's relatively easy to do thanks to ARC Welder.
