Zoom is available on all operating systems, including macOS. If you want to use the Zoom app on your Mac, this quick guide will help you get started.

Next, you should follow these steps to complete the installation process:

  1. Choose Download to start the download.

  2. Depending on your browser settings, you may need to allow the download. When a pop-up appears, select Allow.

The download will proceed and you can proceed with the Zoom installation.

Note that if you try to join someone else's meeting from a link without Zoom already installed on your Mac, Zoom will automatically begin the download process.

How to install Zoom on a Mac

When the download is complete, select the download icon in the top right corner of your browser. Then follow these steps:

  1. Double click to open the Zoom download.

  2. When prompted, choose Keep going, of course, after reading the introductory information.

  3. Proceed with the installation prompts, including choosing an installation destination.

  4. Then choose To install.

How to set up your new Zoom account

The installation process should only take a few moments. Once it does, you will see the Zoom app window on your screen. You have two options here: Join a meeting or log in.

How to join a Zoom meeting

There are several ways to join a Zoom meeting. Simply dial with the Zoom app Join a meeting and then enter the meeting ID or personal link name. The meeting host should provide this information to you in advance of the meeting.

How to sign in to a Zoom account

If you're just attending meetings, you might not need a Zoom account. However, if you want to schedule your own meetings, change your personal settings, or update Zoom, you should create a Zoom account.

You can do this by selecting log in in the Zoom app, then click Register in the lower right corner. Zoom will then guide you through the account creation process.

Once you've created your Zoom account, you can log in using the Zoom client or your browser.

How to start a Zoom call on Mac

Once you're signed in, you'll be able to make your first Zoom call. There are two ways to do this. You can either start a call immediately or schedule a meeting for later.

Start a call immediately

To start a call right away, just dial begin. Once in your meeting, you can choose whether to Join with computer audio or Test speakers and microphone.

It's a good idea to test your speaker and microphone before your meeting to make sure they're working properly. By choosing Test speakers and microphone, Zoom guides you through a quick test.

You can also take this opportunity to make sure your video quality is up to date. And if it doesn't, you can check your video quality before calling.

When you're done, you'll need to invite guests to your call. You can do this by selecting Attendees and then Invite. You can send invitations through your contacts or email, depending on your needs and settings.

When you're done with your call, just dial to end a call.

Schedule a Zoom Call

If you don't want to start your meeting right away, you can also schedule your call by using the Plus (+) symbol in the upper left corner of the Zoom app (in the main window).

In the window, enter all the details about your upcoming Zoom meeting. You can then share the personal meeting ID and passcode with your guests or send invitations through Gmail, Outlook or another calendar app.
