How to uninstall McAfee on Mac
For most macOS programs, uninstalling it is as simple as finding the app in your applications folder and dragging it to the trash can icon on your home screen. However, the McAfee software is a little more complicated and usually more difficult to remove. Fortunately, there is a more effective method that you can try.
Step 1: If necessary, make sure that you are logged in to an administrator account. Open your applications folder and select the Utilities folder. In the Utilities folder, open the Terminal.
step 2: In the terminal you can create a command to uninstall the software. This command must be precise. Enter the following:
sudo / Library / McAfee / sma / scripts / uninstall.sh.
The command applies to McAfee version 4.8 or earlier.
For McAfee 5.0 or later, enter:
sudo / Library / McAfee / cma / scripts / uninstall.sh.
When you've done that, hit Enter.
step 3: After hitting Enter, your Mac should have deleted the McAfee files. When you're done with this process, restart your Mac to live a McAfee-free life.
Sometimes a Terminal command isn't enough to thoroughly remove McAfee, and you may get pop-ups or other leftover bits after trying to remove the software. In this case, your best bet is to get a good uninstaller app and use it to forcibly extract any remaining McAfee files. AppCleaner is a free and quick option, or you can choose any uninstaller of your choice.
