Use this trick to bypass Apple's 2TB limit and get 4TB of iCloud storage.

Apple's most expensive iCloud plan offers 2 TB of storage. This is in line with other competing services like Google Drive and Dropbox. However, Apple has a trick up its sleeve that can help you get even more space out of iCloud.

In late 2020, Cupertino-based company launched Apple One, a single subscription plan that bundles all of Apple's services. This new addition is the key to that extra iCloud storage. Here's what you can do when you need additional iCloud space to store huge 4K files and other data.

Here's how to get 4TB of iCloud storage

Whether you're an iCloud subscriber or an Apple One subscriber who uses iCloud, Apple lets you stack storage when you pay for both services. So if you pay $ 29.95 per month for the Apple One plan which gives you 2TB of iCloud storage, you still have the option to upgrade your iCloud storage to 2TB in Settings.

This means that for an additional $ 9.99 per month, on top of your Apple One subscription, you can double your total iCloud storage to 4TB. Yes, this huge amount of storage can be shared with your family members.

If you're paying for iCloud separately but haven't tried the Apple One yet, follow these simple instructions:

  1. to open the settings on your iPhone or iPad and tap your Apple ID above.

  2. Choose now Subscriptions to find the option to get Apple One.

Is 4 TB iCloud Storage Even Necessary?

For 99% of Apple users, 4TB of iCloud storage is excessive. However, that huge amount of storage space can be a realistic requirement if you are a content creator who frequently records tons of 4K video. If you're using Family Sharing to share your iCloud storage with five people, 2TB might not be enough.

However, this is not the only way to get more storage space. When you pay $ 9.99 for iCloud, you don't have to spend another $ 29.95 just to get 2TB of storage. Instead, you can check out third-party options like Google Drive, which do the same thing for a fraction of the price.
