How to change the spell check language in Microsoft Office

Change the Word spell checker language

Microsoft Word for macOS allows you to change the default, template, and selection languages. To change the default spell checker language in Word, follow these steps:

How to change the spell check language in Apple Pages, Numbers, and Keynote

To change the spell checking language for the iWork suite, you need to change the global settings in System settings on your Mac. However, any changes you make will affect all three applications, which can be useful in some situations but not ideal in others. To change the spell checking language for Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, do the following:

  1. Navigate to System settings > keyboard.

  2. Choose text from the menu bar.

  3. Press the Menu box under spelling, orthography.

  4. Choose the language you want.

You can also choose to check spelling in multiple languages. To do this, proceed as follows:

How to change the spell check language in Apache OpenOffice or TDF LibreOffice

OpenOffice and LibreOffice have universal language settings that affect all projects, including documents, spreadsheets and presentations. The word processing programs in the suites also offer additional settings. To change the spell check language for all OpenOffice or LibreOffice documents, do the following:

  1. Start the application.

  2. Navigate to OpenOffice / LibreOffice > settings.

  3. Press the Disclosure triangle Next language settings.

  4. Choose languages.

  5. Select the language you want under Standard languages ​​for documents.

  6. click OK.
