How one can Repair the Home windows 11 Activation Error Code 0xc004c003

If you recently upgraded to Windows 11 or reinstalled the operating system, you will encounter a Windows activation error showing error code 0xc004c003. This problem usually occurs when your system tries to activate the operating system with an OEM digital activation product key.

Here we are going to show you some troubleshooting tips to help you resolve this error and activate your copy of Windows 11.

What is causing the error code 0xc004c003 in Windows 11 Pro?

The license code component in Windows is responsible for accessing the registry hive and verifying the product key. If access is denied due to incorrect access, error 0xc004c003 is raised.

A failed key verification can cause this error, but the reasons for it can be different. Here we examine some tips you can take to fix this error in Windows 11.

1. Check your version of Windows

Windows 11, like its successor, is available in several editions – Home, Pro and Enterprise. Most consumer-grade computers come with the Home Edition installed at the factory.

Depending on how you have installed Windows 11 on your PC, the installed operating system version may change. If you performed an in-place upgrade, Windows will automatically detect your existing edition and install the correct edition (Home, Pro, or Enterprise).

However, if you did a clean install for Windows 11, you may have installed the Pro edition instead of Home. Unfortunately, you cannot activate the Pro Edition with a license key for the Home Edition.

To check the installed Windows 11 edition:

  1. Press the Win + me to open settings.

  2. By doing system Tab, scroll down and click Above.

  3. In the right pane, scroll down to the Windows Specification section. You can find them here Edition Section to view the Windows 11 edition installed on your PC.

  4. If your Windows 11 edition is the same as your earlier edition, go with. away Fix three under.

If you purchased a Windows 11 Home license key and installed the Pro edition, try to downgrade.

2. Downgrade from Windows 11 Pro to Windows 11 Home

If you upgraded to the Pro Edition of Windows 11 using the Home Edition license key, you will encounter activation error 0xc004c003.

There are two ways to solve this problem: First, upgrade to the Pro version with a new purchase or downgrade to the Home Edition.

If you don't want to miss out on a new upgrade, the process of downgrading Windows 11 Pro to Home is a two-step process. You need to optimize your registry editor first to prepare for the downgrade and then run the ISO setup file to complete the downgrade process.

2.1 Optimizing the registry to install Windows 10 Home

  1. Press Profit + r Run to open.

  2. Type regedit and click OK to open the registry editor. click Yes sir when prompted by UAC.

  3. In the registry editor, navigate to the following location. You can copy and paste the path into the registry editor for easier navigation:
    Computer HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion

  4. In the right pane, find and double click on it Product name Value.

  5. Enter in the pop-up window Windows 11 Home Monolingual.

  6. click OK to save the changes.

  7. Next, locate and double click on that Edition ID Value.

  8. Enter in the pop-up window CoreSingleLanguage.

  9. click OK to save the changes.

  10. Next, in the Registry Editor, navigate to the following location:
    Computer HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE WOW6432Node Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion

  11. In the right pane, look for the Product name Value and change it to Windows 10 start page.

  12. click OK to save the changes.

  13. Next, locate and double click on that Edition ID and change it to CoreSingleLanguage.

  14. click OK to save the changes.

  15. Close the registry editor.

2.2 Downgrade to Windows 11 Home

To complete the downgrade process, we will download the ISO file and perform an in-place upgrade. An in-place upgrade allows you to reinstall the Windows operating system without removing your files or apps. That's how it works.

  1. Go to Microsoft's official download page for Windows 11.

  2. Scroll down to the Download the Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) Section.

  3. Click the drop-down menu and select Windows 11.

  4. click on the Download Button.

  5. Next, select your language from the drop-down list.

  6. click Confirm.

  7. click on the 64-bit download Button. It will start your download for Windows 11 ISO.

  8. After the ISO has been downloaded, open the Downloads folder.

  9. Right click on the ISO image and select Assemble.

  10. Windows mounts the ISO and opens the drive folder automatically. If not, click that DVD drive Icon below This pc.

  11. In the ISO folder, double-click the Setup.exe File. click Yes sir when prompted by UAC.

  12. In the Install Windows 11 window, click Change how Setup downloads updates.

  13. Next, click Not now.

  14. click Next Continue.

  15. Then accept the instructions and license conditions.

  16. By doing Ready to install Window, make sure Install Windows 11 Home and Keep personal files and apps Option is displayed.

  17. click To install and wait for the process to finish. An in-place upgrade can take a few hours, depending on the system hardware. You may also notice some reboots during the process, but this is normal behavior.

After the restart, check if the downgrade was successful. To do this, navigate to Settings> About> Windows Specifications and check the output.

To activate Windows 11, go to Settings> System> Activation. Next, follow the on-screen instructions to activate your edition of Windows 11.

3. Activate Windows 11 from the command prompt

Sometimes the Microsoft server cannot verify and activate your license due to server problems. If activation still fails, you can activate your license from the command prompt. That's how it works.

  1. Press the Windows key, and enter cmd.

  2. Right-click in the search results command prompt and choose Execute as administrator. click Yes sir when prompted by UAC.

  3. In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter:
    slmgr.vbs -rearm

  4. When the success message appears, click OK and then restart your PC. After the restart, open the activation page and see if the 0xc004c003 error is resolved.

When you first register your Windows 11 license, it links to your computer's hardware. This helps Microsoft ensure that the license is used in accordance with the terms of use, and the user does not have to manually activate Windows every time after reinstallation.
