When you buy a new Apple product, you can try Apple TV + for a full year with this free trial.
You don't have to search far and wide to find a video streaming service with tons of TV shows and movies. However, it is getting harder and harder to find a service with a free trial so you can try out the content before paying a subscription fee.
Fortunately, if you've recently purchased an Apple product, you can unlock a free one-year trial for Apple TV +. Here's exactly how to get Apple TV + for free.
What is Apple TV +?
If you're new to the world of video streaming, Apple TV + is Apple's own service designed to compete with other big names like Netflix, Disney +, and Amazon Prime Video.
Apple TV + was originally launched in 2019 and features a wide variety of content, including both original TV shows and movies that are exclusive to the platform. All content is available without ads and the vast majority can be played in 4K HDR resolution and with Dolby Atmos sound.
You can access Apple TV + on Apple devices, PCs, game consoles, streaming video boxes and many smart TV models. The service is also available on the Internet at tv.apple.com.
As a nice touch, you can also download all Apple TV content to your device so you can watch it without an internet connection for a plane trip or a long drive.
The free trial can also be shared with up to five other family members using Family Sharing. If you've never heard of this great feature, check out our Apple Family Sharing Primer to show you how it works.
How to Get a Free Apple TV + Trial
The one-year free trial for Apple TV + is available to anyone purchasing a new iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller. The Apple Watch is not included.
The offering began with every device purchased on November 1, 2019 and later.
Once you've set up your device, you have 90 days to redeem the free offer. Note that if you've previously used an Apple TV + trial, you won't be able to redeem the offer.
Make sure you are signed in to the device with your Apple ID. Also, make sure the device has the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, or macOS installed.
Next, go to the Apple TV app on your device. If it isn't already installed, download Apple TV for free from the App Store.
You should immediately see a dialog asking if you want to redeem the offer. Choose Enjoy 1 year for free officially accept.
Cancel your Apple TV + subscription
After you complete your one-year free trial, Apple will continue to charge you $ 4.99 per month to access Apple TV +.
You will need to cancel manually if you do not want to continue after the free trial period. To do this, go to the settings and then choose your name at the top of the page. Choose Subscriptions and choose Apple TV. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Cancel.
