Easy methods to Correctly Disable Microsoft OneDrive in Home windows

An automatic cloud sync solution with your desktop computer or Windows tablet is a good idea. But does it have to be OneDrive? Of course not! If you prefer a different cloud solution and want to reclaim space from OneDrive, you can deactivate it this way.

Why remove OneDrive from Windows?

Your photos, videos and documents are usually stored in the Microsoft Cloud without any problems. It offers various upgrades for memory limits (sometimes free) and can be accessed from any device. Why do you feel the urge to get rid of it?

Maybe you are a fan of another system like Dropbox, Box or Google Drive. If you've invested a lot of time in these services over the years, then you are right to hesitate to switch. On the other hand, you might have spent enough time with OneDrive to know that you don't like it. You may not even have noticed that you had OneDrive.

In any case, it is possible to deactivate OneDrive on your computer. Just make sure you took precautions first. When you leave OneDrive, take the time to move the data you need to your new favorite cloud drive.

  7. click OK to save

After restarting Windows 8.1, the OneDrive directory is no longer displayed in Windows Explorer.

If you want to turn off OneDrive but have an earlier version of Windows, things are a lot easier.

In Windows 8:

  1. Find the OneDrive icon in the notification area.

  2. Right click and choose the settings

  3. Press the Unlink OneDrive possibility

  4. click OK

  5. Close the OneDrive window when prompted to reconnect

  3. Right click A ride

  4. click Uninstall

  5. Restart Windows

Wait for this to finish.

You may need to restart your PC for OneDrive to be completely removed.
