Quick Response Codes, or QR codes for short, are advanced barcodes that contain more information than a conventional barcode. These codes are two-dimensional so you can scan them vertically or horizontally.
You can use QR codes to interpret or convey information such as simple text, URLs, payment information, Wi-Fi authentication, and more.

Create a QR code on a Chromebook
There are several easy ways to generate QR codes on your Chromebook.
Use the Google Chrome browser
This method is the easiest as there is no need to use any third-party apps or services. You can create QR codes for various websites and Google Play app links right in the standard browser.
Open the website or Google Play page that you want your QR code to open. Double click in the address bar and you will see a couple of new icons in the right corner.
The square icon that looks like a Windows logo is the one that you can use to create a QR code. Click the icon and download the QR code.
By default, Chrome saves the files in the Downloads Folder.
Use a third-party QR code generator
You can find tons of great QR code generators online. With these generators you can create codes for URLs, vCards, Wi-Fi, SMS, app stores and much more. All you have to do is click on the type of QR code you want to generate and fill in the data in the fields provided to create one.

Scanning a QR code on a Chromebook
As with creating QR codes, there are several methods available to scan them.
Use the camera app
Chromebooks come with a pre-installed camera app that has a function for scanning QR codes. click on the Launcher in the lower left corner to open the app drawer.
Now click on that Caret Symbol (^) to expand the app drawer where you can find the camera App. Once you open the app, look for the same square one QR code Icon on the screen. It's usually in the top right corner.
Once you click the icon, your camera App is ready to scan QR codes. Just place one in front of your Chromebook's webcam and it will scan the code for you.
Use third-party apps and services
