Just over a year ago, netbooks were the emerging trend that got everyone excited. Now the so-called "internet tablet" seems to be stealing that spotlight. Although these new devices have not yet proven themselves on a commercial scale alongside some niche business applications, netbooks have already found their place in the market, at least for the time being.
At least a few netbook generations have passed in this short period of time, and the concept itself has been given a twist with each new revision. Today we're taking a look at one of Asus' newer products in this segment, the Eee PC 1101HA & # 39; Seashell & # 39 ;. You may recall that the last time we reviewed an Eee PC product was in our Top Netbook Roundup in late 2008. What we have today is a much stylized, just as easy and user-friendly proposition than anything we reviewed back then.
The Eee PC 1101HA was Asus' first netbook that went beyond the 10-inch display size and had an 11.6-inch panel with a resolution of 1366 × 768. The 12.1-inch Eee PC 1201HA is now also available. These larger screen netbooks offer a user experience very close to that of a standard laptop. A few years ago you would have had to pay a high premium for an ultra-portable notebook if you had wanted the kind of mobility and flexibility that a current generation netbook can offer.
The sales packaging contained the netbook, a 6-cell Li-ion battery with 63 Wh, a power cord, a power adapter, a warranty card, a user manual and a support DVD. Ironically, the support DVD includes a system recovery image that you can use to factory reset your computer, even though you will need an external optical drive to use it.
The Eee PC 1101HA measures 11.26 "x 7.72" x (0.86-1.42 ") with an estimated total weight of 2.9 pounds using the included 6-cell battery. Like most netbooks, the Released in the middle of last year, the Eee 1101HA has a 1.33 GHz Atom Z520 processor, 1 GB DDR2 memory and 160 GB hard drive, with Bluetooth 2.1 and WLAN 802.11b / g / n taking care of wireless connectivity.
Read on as we explore the features of the Eee PC 1101HA inside and out.
