The best way to Schedule an Electronic mail in Gmail

Gmail is probably the largest email delivery system in the world. This can be due to Android, the dominance of Google search engines, word of mouth and a commitment to give you the best possible experience, including the ability to schedule email.

Google introduced this feature in Gmail as part of the platform's 15th anniversary in 2019. You can write an email at any time and then schedule delivery so you don't send work-related messages outside of business hours. It's mainly aimed at professionals, but there's no reason why Gmail's general audience can't schedule an apology letter for the next morning.

In this guide, we'll cover scheduling email using the web-based client, followed by the Gmail app for cell phones. Note that if you’re using Gmail in a mobile web browser, there’s no option to schedule your message. At least for now, you need to use the dedicated app.

Web browser (PC)

In this example, we load Gmail in Chrome because Google annoys us when opening the web client in another browser. Again, there doesn't seem to be a way to schedule an email with Gmail in a mobile browser. You need the mobile app for this function.

Step 1: With Gmail open, click the Compose button in the top left corner.

Step 2: The New Message window appears on the screen. Write your message as usual.

Step 3: When you're done, don't click the Submit button. Instead, click the down arrow inside the button as shown below.

Step 4: Click the resulting "Send Schedule" pop-up.

Step 5: Another pop-up window will appear on your screen. Here are three pre-set scheduling options: tomorrow morning, morning afternoon, or Monday morning. Select an option and Gmail will schedule delivery. All done.

If you need a different delivery date and delivery time, click the Select a date and time option and proceed to the next step.

For this part, we'll use an iPad Pro to demonstrate against its larger screen area. Plus, we can't get enough of the new dark theme – it's so much easier on the eyes!

Step 1: With the Gmail app open, tap the colorful circular plus button below. On phones, it should appear in the lower right corner. It's more left on tablets.
