As the current pandemic continues, more and more workers are forced to work from home whenever possible. Microsoft Teams wants to make this transition easier by increasing the meeting attendee limit to 20,000 people.
What can Microsoft teams expect?
The message was posted on the Microsoft 365 blog. All new functions of Microsoft Teams were explained in a post. The highlight is Microsoft's announcement that teams can now support up to 20,000 people in a meeting.
Of course, it would be difficult to host and manage a meeting that is larger than the population of some small countries. For this reason, Microsoft has limited the number of participants in an interactive meeting to 1,000. If the meeting exceeds this limit, it automatically switches to view-only mode.
The update also allows a company to customize its meeting with brand lobbies. This replaces the living room behind you with a company logo for a professional touch.
In order for a company to use this update, it must register for the Advanced Communications plan. The plan will be available in mid-August 2020 and can be added by a company to their current Microsoft 365 or Office 365 subscription to improve their meetings.
Businesses interested in this feature can sign up for a free 60-day trial in the Teams Admin Center or mid-August on the Microsoft Teams website.
The blog post also reveals plans for Team Calling, a cloud phone system. Teams Calling aims to simplify one-on-one conversations with customers and other employees. This also goes hand in hand with Microsoft Teams, so you can manage both a call and a meeting on one device.
Make the most of Microsoft teams
With the current pandemic changing the way companies do their jobs, the demand for a stable remote meeting solution has never been higher. With this new update for Microsoft Teams, large companies can now hold meetings with up to 20,000 people online.
