Learn how to Pin Steam Video games in Home windows 10

Steam is a great service for buying and cataloging all of your PC games. If you have favorite games, you can pin them to your Windows 10 taskbar or to another place like your desktop or start menu for easy access.

However, Steam shortcuts work in a special way. These are internet links. So if you want to pin Steam games or add Steam games to your system tray, you have to follow these methods.

1. How to pin games on Steam

If you have a large collection of Steam games, it is convenient to pin games so that you can find and play them quickly. The best way to do this in the Steam client is to use the favorites feature.

Open Steam and go to Library Section. A list of all your games is shown on the left. Right click the game you want to pin and click Add to favorites.

This will create a new category called Favorites above. You can add as many games as you want to this category. You can also create custom categories in Steam, but the Favorites category is always shown at the top.

You can add the favorites category as a "shelf" in the main window. This is a larger visual representation of the games using their boxing art. You can sort this shelf with that Sort by Dropdown list. This has options like Alphabetical, Hours played, and Release date.

2. How to Pin Steam Games to Windows 10 Desktop

You can add a shortcut to a Steam game directly on your Windows 10 desktop. The game will still open with Steam, but you don't have to load the client first.

To do this, open Steam and go to Library Section. Right click the game you want to put on your desktop and click Manage> Add Desktop Shortcut.

3. How to Pin Steam Games to Windows 10 Taskbar and Start Menu

There are several ways to pin a Steam game in Windows 10 to the taskbar and start menu. You can place the Steam client in the taskbar or in the start menu and pin your game in the context menu. Alternatively, you can pin the game as a separate unit.

Open Start and type to pin the Steam client to your taskbar or start menu steam. Here you will find the Steam app. Right click the result and click Pin it on the taskbar or On home page. The Steam shortcut will be added to your selected location, which you can click to launch Steam.

We can go one step further. Right click Click the Steam icon in the system tray or in the start menu to open the context menu. Here you can go straight to sections like that business or Library.

Above are the five games that you have recently interacted with. Move the mouse pointer over one and a pin icon will appear. Press the Pin icon if you want to permanently place this game in a new one Pinned Category at the top of the context menu.

If the game you want to pin is not on that Recently List, no problem. You can start it briefly so that it appears. Alternatively, just follow the instructions above for the taskbar to place the game shortcut on your desktop. Then, Click and drag the icon for your taskbar. It will then be pinned to the Steam context menu.

You can pin the individual game to your taskbar or start menu. To do this, open Steam and go to Library Tab. Right click the game you want to pin and click Manage> Search Local Files.

This will open File Explorer and take you straight to the game's installation files. An application file with the extension should be located here EXE. This is used to start the game. If you don't see it, look in the subfolders.

When you find the EXE file, Right click it and click Pin it on the taskbar or On home page.

For the start menu, you can get fancier tiles with a free Microsoft Store app called Pin Steam. Just download the app and start it. Then enter the custom part of your Steam profile URL when prompted. Your profile must be public for this to work.

If you don't have a custom URL or your profile is private, you'll need to make some adjustments. To do this, open Steam, move the mouse pointer over your user name into the main menu and click on profile. Then click edit profile On the right side.

First set a own URL. Next, switch to My privacy settings Tab and set Game details to Publicity. You can set your profile back to private as soon as you have completed the synchronization with the Pin Steam app.

Once you've connected the Pin Steam app, a grid of your games will appear. Click one by one on the ones you want to add to your Start menu, and then click Quick pin.

Alternatively, click on Create tile to adjust certain settings for the tile, e.g. B. the font color. As soon as these tiles are in your start menu, you can right-click and click change size too small, medium or large.

The great thing about Pin Steam is that it creates live tiles. This means that the starting tiles are shown when your friends play the game. You can also pin friends as a starting tile if you want to follow them.
