How you can Make a Mattress in Terraria

While you have to accomplish so much after your first jump in Terraria, one of the most important tools you need to make first is a bed. This not only promotes the health generation, but you can also spend the time sleeping faster. More importantly, a spawn point is created.

This guide shows you how to make a bed from wood. But the process takes time. Not only do you have to collect resources, one of which can be time-consuming, but you also have to build five crafting stations in a specific order. Only then can you finally build a simple bed.

At the end of this manual, we list all the different beds you can make, the ingredients you need, and the required crafting station.

What you need

Here are your basic ingredients. You will either use them as is or melt them in the oven to make another ingredient. Each part of this guide tells you exactly how much you need.

General ingredients:

  • Wood
  • Cobwebs
  • Iron ore
  • Stone blocks
  • gel

Craft stations (in order):

  • Workbench
  • oven
  • anvil
  • Sawmill
  • loom

Note: If you don't have the ingredients needed to create an item, it won't show up in the crafting menu until you do.

A note on cobwebs

Cobwebs are your hardest-to-find ingredients. They are deep down in caves, spider caves, tunnels and underground rooms and mines. We found this batch in an underground room, which wasn't much. We didn't stumble across a motherlode until we dug deep, deep underground and fell into a cobweb-laden cave.

How to open the crafting menu

The craft menu is part of the inventory interface. Press the following key or key to open it:

  • PC – ESC key
  • Xbox One – Y button
  • Playstation 4 – Triangle button
  • Nintendo Switch – X button / double click on the hotbar (touchscreen)
  • Cell phone, cell phone – Double tap Hotbar

Part 1: Create a workbench

Terraria Make Workbench

First, you need this item to make almost anything else that is required to build your bed. The screenshot above shows that Bird Head just put it on the floor and then started building a house around it.

Ingredients:

  • 10 wood – Cut down the local trees with your ax!

Step 1: Open your inventory and crafting menu.

step 2: Select the workbench in the craft menu.

Step 2: Place your workbench anywhere.

Part 2: Create a flashlight

Make Terraria Torch

You will need this item to explore caves and create your next crafting station, the oven.

Ingredients:

  • 1 gel – You can collect them from fallen slime.
  • 1 wood – Every piece of wood is enough.

Step 1: Approach the workbench

Step 2: Open your inventory and crafting menu.

Step 3: Scroll through the crafting menu until you find the torch.

Step 4: Drag the resulting three torches into your inventory.

Part 3: Create an oven

Terraria make oven

You need this crafting station to the left of Bird Head to smelt iron ore and make the anvil.

Ingredients:

  • 20 stone blocks – Mine these in caves and tunnels.
  • 4 wood – Every piece of wood is enough.
  • 3 torches – See above how to make a torch.

Step 1: Approach the workbench.

Step 2: Open your inventory and crafting menu.

Step 3: Select the stove in the craft menu.

Step 4: Place your stove anywhere.

Part 4: Create an anvil

Make Terraria anvil

You need this crafting station to the right of Bird Head to create chains. This is one of the ingredients for creating a sawmill.

Ingredients:

  • 15 iron ore – Mine this in a cave or tunnel system. You need this to make five iron bars.

Step 1: Approach the oven.

Step 2: Open your inventory and crafting menu.

Step 3: Select the iron bar in the crafting menu and drag it into your inventory.

Step 4: Repeat these steps until you have five iron bars.

Step 4: The anvil is now available. Select it and put it on the floor.

Part 5: Build a sawmill

Terraria makes a sawmill

In the end. We are approaching our bed. The sawmill to the right of Bird Head is the craft table where we make the bed as soon as we make silk.

Ingredients:

  • 10 wood – Any wood is enough.
  • Two iron bars or two pencils – Create with six iron ore or six lead ores melted in the oven.

Step 1: Approach the sawmill.

Step 2: Open your inventory and crafting menu.

Step 3: Select the loom in the craft menu

Step 1: Approach the loom.

Step 2: Open your inventory and crafting menu.

Step 3: Select the silk material in the craft menu

Step 4: Drag the silk into your inventory.

Step 5: Repeat these steps four more times to make all five silks.

Part 8: Build Your Bed

Create a Terraria bed

In the end! Now you can make a simple bed!

If you want to create something unusual like a bone bed, you will find information on each bed and its main ingredient at the end. Just replace the wood as the main ingredient – you still need the five silks.

ingredients

  • 5 silk – Made on the loom.
  • 15 wood – Any wood is enough.

Step 1: Approach the sawmill.

Step 2: Open your inventory and crafting menu.

Step 3: Select the bed in the craft menu

Step 4: Put your bed anywhere.
