Ripping your favorite YouTube songs is so common that there are tons of websites and software out there to help people do it. But not every service out there is absolutely trustworthy. Some websites may also download questionable (or malicious) files to your computer or deliver poor quality titles.
If you want to rip a title from a YouTube video, you first need to make sure that the websites or apps you use do not harm your device. However, with this guide, our team found some methods that can make the process safer and easier.
However, we need to issue this warning before proceeding with the following instructions: Ripping audio from YouTube violates YouTube’s Terms of Service and can cause you trouble. There are ways to enjoy YouTube music without violating the streaming site’s terms of service, e.g. B. via the new YouTube music service from Google. We therefore recommend that you first think about legitimate options.
You should also be aware that some of the YouTube ripping sites may be infected with malware and / or make money like cryptomining. We do our best to recommend safe services that do not participate in such activities. However, if you find that your system is running hotter or harder than usual when you visit these websites, you should make sure that you do not stay on these websites longer than necessary. If you want to download audio ripping software, have the software checked for threats by your chosen antivirus service before installing or using it.
Desktop method: 4K YouTube to MP3
While you may not want to download any other app, using an installed app is usually safer and more reliable when it comes to ripping audio from YouTube videos. The fact is that most YouTube ripping sites, even those that appear safe at first glance, may fall prey to hackers and malware. Therefore, it may be best to use dedicated software on your desktop for your audio ripping needs. Even if you download software, you should always exercise caution before installing it by ensuring that you scan it with your trusted antivirus software.
However, downloading and installing a new app doesn't have to be a problem. In fact, 4K Downloader's dedicated 4K YouTube to MP3 app offers painless installation and ease of use that can keep up with most online YouTube ripping services. It's also available for multiple operating systems, including Windows, MacOS (10.13 and later), and Ubuntu. 4K YouTube to MP3 can also be downloaded and used for free. You can also upgrade to a premium version that includes features like "unlimited download of playlists" and no ads. But the free version should be enough for most people.
Step 1: Download 4K YouTube and install it in MP3
Navigate to the 4K YouTube to MP3 website and click the blue Get 4K YouTube to Mp3 button on the left side of your screen. The site should automatically detect which version is compatible with your system and download it. If not, you can find the version you want by clicking the other version. Link under the blue button.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install 4K YouTube in MP3.
Step 2: Copy the URL of your selected YouTube video
Navigate to the YouTube video whose audio you want to rip. Then mark the URL in the address bar of your browser and copy it to your clipboard. You can also right-click the video itself and choose Copy Video URL from the menu that appears.
Step 3: Paste the video url into 4K YouTube to MP3
The best thing about 4K YouTube to MP3 is that you don't have to do much to rip audio. After copying the link to your clipboard, all you have to do is paste it into the app by clicking the green Paste Link button in the left corner of the screen. After that, the app can immediately work on ripping the audio. To give you an idea of how quickly the app created the MP3 file: it took less than a few minutes to process a 10-minute YouTube video.
Step 4: Find your file
Once the MP3 file is created, the app automatically saves it on your desktop. To find the file, you can simply hover your mouse over the name of the title that appears in the middle of the app. The Show in Folder button is displayed. Click this button and you will be taken to a file explorer window where your new MP3 file will appear.
Online alternative: YouTube to MP3
If you don't want to download a specific app for your audio ripping needs, you can still use online services like YouTube to MP3, a website with a free YouTube video converter. But we have to warn you again: YouTube ripping online services are usually safe at first and are later infected with malware. So make sure you use your antivirus software to scan these websites and any files you download from them. As of May 2020, YouTube to MP3 appears to be a safe audio ripping site to use, as our virus scans did not detect any malware or phishing attempts when testing the site.
That said, YouTube to MP3 seems to work similar to our featured desktop method: just copy and paste the URL of your desired video. Let the website convert the video into an MP3 audio file. With this service, you don't have to install anything and can upload your new MP3 track to a cloud service like Dropbox instead of just storing it on your computer.
