An iTunes gift card (usually as App Store & iTunes Card) is pre-purchased credit for Apple's various digital services. This includes the iTunes Store – Apple's media and software marketplace, where you can buy music, films, apps and more. You can also use iTunes gift cards to subscribe to Apple Music and other Apple services.

Note that iTunes gift cards are different from Apple Store gift cards. With Apple Store gift cards, you can buy physical Apple products such as an iPhone or MacBook in Apple's physical or online stores.

iTunes gift cards are available as physical cards and digital codes via email. The gift card does not expire. Once the credit has been added to your account, it will not expire.

You can only redeem your card in the same iTunes store where it was purchased. Therefore, a US gift card is only valid in the US App Store.

Apple iTunes gift cards

Yes. As mentioned above, any digital purchases you make with your Apple account automatically use your Apple ID balance first. This means that you can use your iTunes credit for in-app purchases, including subscriptions and one-time purchases.

Pay attention to in-app purchases where a payment method is billed directly (e.g., carpooling or grocery delivery services), as it will instead charge the credit card you have deposited for that particular merchant.

How to use iTunes gift cards instead of credit cards

When you sign up for an Apple ID, you have the option to add a payment method. However, you don't need to add a credit card to your account. If you want to skip the step of adding a payment method, then redeem gift cards to add funds to your account instead.

For example, if you get a $ 100 iTunes gift card as a gift and you have an ongoing Apple Music subscription, your subscription will use that credit over time until everything is gone. Once you run out of funds, your subscription will use your default payment method again.
