The AMD Ryzen 4000 laptops are very exciting. These new processors give lightweight and portable laptops a higher number of cores and more performance. However, availability is the biggest challenge for AMD.
According to AMD, up to 135 designs will be available this year, from gaming laptops to commercial machines. However, the rollout was slow. We've put together all of the Ryzen 4000 laptops currently available, as well as those that will hit the shelves later this year.
Asus ROG Zephryus G14
Whether you need a mobile workstation or a mobile gaming rig, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 offers the best balance between performance, size and price. The ROG Zephyrus G14 combines AMD's 8-core Ryzen 9 4900HS processor with Nvidia's GeForce RTX 2060 graphics in an ultra-portable Max-Q form factor and weighs just 3.5 pounds of core and thread count.
The notebook comes with a 14-inch display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Players will appreciate that this system delivers a remarkable 64 FPS (frames per second) in high-speed games like Assassins Creed: Odyssey. It offers the performance of Nvidia's AMD processor and GeForce graphics in one package, starting at a modest $ 1,050. If you want to play on a larger display, a ROG Zephyrus G15 with a 15.6-inch display has also been announced, which will be available shortly. This laptop has a starting price of $ 1,299.
Dell G5 SE
The Dell G5 SE combines AMD's Ryzen 7 4800H processor with a Radeon RX 5600M in a 15-inch form factor. This notebook uses AMD's silicon for the processor and graphics and also benefits from the company's ShartShift software optimization, which enables more power to be transferred to the CPU or GPU as required. ShartShift should increase performance without sacrificing battery life.
For a gaming-oriented laptop, the Dell G5 SE costs an affordable $ 879. However, our test device also has a 144 Hz display for responsive gaming actions, a 512 GB solid-state drive and 16 GB of storage for just $ 1,200.
Dell Inspiron 14 7000 2-in-1
The Dell Inspiron brand has been an integral part of many dorms and student residences due to its competitive performance and affordable price. The new Inspiron 14 7000 2-in-1 combines a sleek convertible design – like the HP Envy x360 and Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 on this list – with AMD's Ryzen 7 4700U mobile processor.
Starting at just $ 699, the Inspiron 14 7000 2-in-1 is one of the cheaper laptops on the market. It combines the AMD processor with integrated Radeon graphics, a 14-inch FHD touchscreen display and fingerprint security in a travel-friendly 3.42 pound package.
HP ProBook 445 G7 and ProBook 455 G7
Unlike competitors who first debuted consumer notebooks with Ryzen 4000, HP's initial acceptance of AMD's silicon on its commercial laptops began. The HP ProBook 445 G7 is one of the first business-oriented laptops to be shipped with Ryzen 4000 chips. So you get the longevity of HP notebooks – like a splash-proof backlit keyboard and the Sure View display on an ultra-bright 1,000-nit screen – with the power of the AMD processor.
Given the range of functions, this starting price of $ 606 is one of the cheapest commercial laptops on the market. Configurations begin with a Ryzen 3 4300U quad-core processor in a 14-inch case. If you need a larger display, the 15.6-inch ProBook G7 is priced at $ 622 with similar features.
HP Envy x360 13-inch and Envy x360 15-inch
The HP Envy range has been designed as an affordable notebook with improved aesthetics and is a great choice for those who want a premium finish without breaking the bank. In addition to 13- or 15-inch options, the HP Cabrio is available in a number of Ryzen 4000 configurations, starting with a Ryzen 3 4300U and extending to a Ryzen 7 4700U.
If you need a convertible on the go, you should probably go for the 13.3-inch model, while those who need extra screen space want to choose the 15.6-inch version. Both models start at just $ 699, with the smaller of the two models weighing less than 3 pounds. The battery life is not yet known, but power users will appreciate the quick charge functions of this notebook, which generates a 50% charge in just 30 minutes.
Lenovo IdeaPad 3
If bigger is better than your mantra, Lenovo's 17-inch IdeaPad 3 is a laptop that will delight your eyes. As one of the largest laptops with AMD's Ryzen 4000 chipsets, the IdeaPad 3 remains affordable from $ 739. Equipped with a Ryzen 7 4700U processor with eight cores and integrated Radeon graphics, this laptop is a great driver for everyday use that allows multitasking between web browsing, Microsoft Office files and even occasional photo editing.
Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 14-inch
Despite the confusing naming convention from Lenovo for its consumer laptop product range, the release of the IdeaPad Slim 7 – internationally known as Yoga Slim 7 – in North America offers the brand's typical smiling keys on the keyboard in addition to the specified 14-hour battery life. Features like a 14-inch FHD Dolby Vision display and Dolby Atmos audio tuning in a super slim package, weighing just over three pounds, make the IdeaPad Slim 7 a little higher quality than the standard IdeaPad 3.
Starting at $ 899, you get a Ryzen 7 4700U processor with eight cores, integrated Radeon graphics, an integrated fingerprint reader, a 512 GB solid-state drive and 8 GB soldered LPDDR4X memory in a form factor that suits everyone Intel Ultrabook does justice to a run for its money.
Lenovo Legion 5 15 inches
The Lenovo Legion 5 laptop is ideal for content creation and gaming as it combines AMD's Ryzen 4000 processor with rival Nvidia's GeForce RTX graphics. This raytracing-capable system costs less than $ 1,000 and can be configured with either a Ryzen 5 4600H processor with six cores or a Ryzen 7 4800H processor with eight cores and Nvidia GeForce RTX 1650 or 1650 Ti graphics.
Lenovo offers plenty of configuration options, and the 15.6-inch FHD display with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz helps gamers stay on top of things in a package that starts at 5.5 pounds.
If none of the above options meet your needs, don't worry. More than a dozen additional models have been announced by manufacturers ranging from MSI to Asus and Acer to HP. Whether you need a laptop to work or play with, make sure these laptops with Ryzen 4000 appear under the hood in the coming months.
